Stephen A. Crotty wins 2009 Clayford T. Grimm P.E. Student Scholarship

Stephen A. (Alex) Crotty, who studied at the  Georgia Institute of Technology under the direction of Lawrence F. Kahn. Alex’s research topic was “Creating Brick from Savannah River Dredge Materials” to determine if the material dredged from the Savannah River can be used to produce brick conforming to ASTM C62 or ASTM C 216. His research activity included review of site records for material variations, characterization of the dredged materials, laboratory methods for treating-blending-and processing the materials, then  testing and assessment of the bricks produced.
