Roxborough State Park Morning Hike/Walk
Wednesday, October 12th, 7:30 – 11:00 am
Roxborough State Park is one of Phil’s favorite places to take visitors in Denver having a limited amount of time. The park is filled with dramatic red-rock formations, distinct plant communities, and a variety of wildlife ranging from black bears to mule deer. Phil will lead attendees on the relatively easy Fountain Valley Trail (2.2 miles, and generally level) while others may want to do the more strenuous Carpenter’s Peak or Powerline Trails. Or stay in the beautiful visitor’s center and enjoy a movie about the park.
The park charges a small admission fee (was $10 at the time of this writing) but does not allow buses of large vehicles into the park. And this is not a great spot for Ubers or taxis as it is about a 45-minute drive from the hotel (depending on traffic). As such, this will be a first come, first served event, and we will take as many as we can find seats for in personal vehicles. If you are driving to the meetings or renting a car and can transport fellow members and guests, please let staff know.
Younger Member Outing
Wednesday, October 12th @ 8:30 pm
TMS’s “young” and “young at heart” Members will get together for a fun night out on the town in Denver. Younger Member Get Together registrants will be emailed with Wednesday evening’s details prior to the meeting. Please note that individual costs are borne by attendees.
Historic Denver Walking Tour
Thursday, October 13th, 2:15 – 3:30 pm
Explore Denver’s oldest block and learn about the first city center, its transformation to a skid row, and how local citizens saved the block of buildings from demolition to create Denver’s first historic district. Historic Denver has a crafted a custom tour designed to highlight the masonry aspects of Larimer Square. Led by Diane Travis, formerly Technical Director at the Rocky Mountain Masonry Institute, she will talk about the innovative ways the owners of Larimer Square have repaired and retrofitted these historic masonry buildings to serve for another century.
Guests will meet in the hotel lobby at 2:15PM on Thursday, Oct. 13 for the short ride via the mall shuttle to Larimer Square where we will meet up with Diane. The tour is approximately 2 hours. Please wear comfortable shoes.
Women In Masonry Get Together
Friday, October 14th @ 5:30 pm
Join other women meeting attendees as they head out for cocktails and dinner after the TMS 402 sub-committee meetings. The group will decide where they would like to go and meet in the hotel lobby at 5:30. This is a unique opportunity to network with other women in the masonry industry in a relaxed, casual environment. Please note that individual costs are borne by attendee.
